SPJ/ONA DePaul is a student organization with membership in the Society of Professional Journalists, the nation’s largest journalism organization, and the Online News Association. SPJ/ONA DePaul is part of the university’s College of Communication.

Our organization supports the First Amendment, the free flow of information and open government records. We provide students opportunities to meet and work with professional journalists, and education on current issues and industry trends.

SPJ DePaul was named the 2011 and 2013 SPJ National Campus Chapter of the Year, and the 2011, 2013 and 2017 Region 5 Campus Chapter of the Year.

SPJ DePaul was founded in 2010 by former adviser Mike Reilley and reorganized as SPJ/ONA DePaul in 2013. In 2013, Reilley won the David Eshelman Award as the nation’s top campus adviser and former SPJ DePaul President Ali Trumbull won the Julie Galvan Award as the nation’s top graduating student.
