SPJ/ONA’s Stone Writes About Journalists and Coding for PBS MediaShift

PBS MediaShift ScreengrabDePaul junior Melanie Stone, an SPJ/ONA executive board member, wrote about why she’s learning journalism and coding in a recent blog post for PBS MediaShift.

Stone, SPJ/ONA’s events coordinator, writes: “I want to write, first and foremost. But I also want to be able to contribute in a newsroom someday, combining web programming skills with my writing chops to create the best possible content for readers.”

SPJ/ONA DePaul is holding a coding workshop on Jan. 17 with Chicago Tribune news apps developer Andy Boyle.
