DePaul University junior Melanie Stone is the newest addition to the SPJ/ONA DePaul student executive board. She joined the team in December for the organization’s social media workshop at Payton Prep, and filled the vacant Events-Programs Coordinator position soon thereafter.

Stone assumes the responsibilities of planning and executing SPJ/ONA DePaul events, as well as promoting them to the DePaul community. She also frequently tweets from the @spjonadepaul account to inform followers of our upcoming events and pertinent information for journalists.

Stone transferred to DePaul in fall 2013 after spending two years at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. This quarter, she is interning with Metromix Chicago, and has previously worked for Crain Communications, Condé Nast and The Everygirl. Her writing has been published in a variety of online and print publications, including PBS MediaShift, Business Insider, Huffington Post, The Red Line Project, The Daily Illini and several local newspapers.
