SPJ/ONA DePaul Announces 2015-16 Executive Board

May 20, 2015 – The DePaul University chapter of the Society for Professional Journalists today announced seven officers appointed to the executive board for the 2015-16 school year.

President: Marc Filippino is a master’s student in journalism and an intern at Rivet Radio. He holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Boston University and also has experience with DNAinfo in Chicago and Radio DePaul. @mfilippino

Vice President: Jenna Duddleston is a senior journalism major focusing on broadcast journalism. She also works as a production intern for Campus Insiders. Duddleston returns to the executive board after serving as membership coordinator in 2014-15. @jennaduddleston

Secretary/Treasurer: Mariah Woelfel is a member of the five-year BA/MA journalism program who is completing her bachelor’s degree. She also serves as multimedia editor of The DePaulia and co-hosts Scrawl Radio on Radio DePaul. @mariahwoelfel

Membership Coordinator: Cheyenne Bowers is a senior journalism major who returns to DePaul after spending four months abroad as an editorial assistant for SUITCASE Magazine in London, England. She is interested in broadcasting and has experience with Good Day DePaul. @cheyennebowers_

Events Coordinator: Miró McPherson is a senior triple majoring in journalism, political science and hospitality leadership. She has experience planning events for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Chicago and has interned at Chicago Lifestyle magazine and WTTW’s Chicago Tonight. @alicemiro

Social Media/Publicity Coordinators: Diana Gutierrez is a communication and media major who serves as a social media intern for Rivet Radio and as a Blue Demon cheerleader. @dmgutierrez94

Rachel Hinton, a junior double majoring in journalism and political science, has worked as a copy editor for The DePaulia and as a freelancer for the Plainfield Enterprise. @rrhinton

The new leadership team will begin work this summer alongside Amy Merrick, who will assume the duties of chapter faculty adviser for the 2015-16 academic year. Merrick is a former Wall Street Journal reporter who holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and an MFA in creative writing from Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon. @amyjmerrick
